Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his initial trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former world number one, has had a challenging period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over challenger Moutet.

It is his maiden championship following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after that period of 2023.

Success also means the Russian has won 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is really nice," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and play positively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair traded break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet defended four initial chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
