Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found many other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are presently not informed of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for details.
A high-ranking representative stated the incident rendered him speechless and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
